EIGA Technical Bulletin 22/18 – Cylinders and Valves - Pressure Definitions

Pressure retaining parts of a gas cylinder package can be exposed to various levels of pressure, depending upon the conditions that the gas cylinder package is exposed to, whether during service or in testing.

Cylinder and valve standards that are used for the design and testing of gas cylinder package items reference different pressures that correspond to those service and testing conditions.

The objective of this Technical Bulletin is to summarise pressure terminology, and their respective definitions, as referenced in the applicable standards and regulations.

The scope of the pressure terminology and definitions for this Technical Bulletin are those contained within regulations and standards that are relevant to Europe.

This Technical Bulletin is intended for all those involved in the specification of gas cylinder and their accessories as well as those who design cylinder filling systems.
